‘We can help MEP engineers much more effectively now that we can meet the demand for BIM’

Sustainability is a hot topic. There is now a huge demand for climate solutions that don’t use fossil fuels. And that hasn’t escaped the notice of NIBE Energietechniek BV, a leading supplier of heating, cooling, ventilation and hot water systems. “Along with project developers, consultants, installers, contractors and housing corporations, we’re facing a huge challenge.

We need to make the existing and new housing stock more sustainable,” says Product Manager Maarten Sonneveld. “Smart Homes is another hot topic. We’ve all seen the smart doorbells, automatic blinds and lighting that can fitted with modern software systems such as NIBE UPLINK and MYUPLINK. Which isn’t surprising being operated with a smartphone. In the future, more and more climate systems – and that includes heat pumps – will also be operated in this way. That’s why all of NIBE’s heat pumps are now, given that smart devices make our lives more comfortable, simpler and more attractive.”

MCE Live & Digital 2021

MEPcontent joined the digital fair MCE, Mostra Convegno Expocomfort, a main business provider in Europe for the HVAC, renewable energy and energy efficiency sectors. The event took place virtually on April 8 and 9 with a comprehensive conference program focused on the latest market trends. Nine full event days for networking and learning followed after the live fair.

The trade fair program at the digital MEPcontent booth was extensive, informative and varied.
As part of product presentations, online lectures, webinars and training courses, visitors were able to comfortably, time and cost-saving, stress-free and Corona-safe on the office PC, home office laptop or mobile on the tablet about innovations and the latest developments.

Digital attendance
It was a different edition from traditional MCE, intended to valorise the importance of connecting by maximizing the advantages offered by digital tools, for a safe and effective attendance. Of course it was not comparable with the face-to-face fairs of previous years, without the personal contact, the informal conversations, the atmosphere and the delicious Italian food. The online format was a useful addition to future live fairs, but can’t replace them.

Educational webinar
The content-related and technical quality of the webinars and the abundance of practically applicable information conveyed were impressive. The webinars are also suitable for training and introducing the new functions beyond the trade fair. The fair was the perfect opportunity to explore new digital technologies that can support building product manufacturers in their BIM journey. During the webinar for building product manufacturers How to get started with constructible content our Customer Success Manager, Kim Smit, our Business Development Manager, Charles Lekx and our Content Operations Manager of Trimble nova, Waldemar Unruh, covered a number of interesting topics: the principle of Constructible Content, industry trends related to BIM standards and content, the latest developments of Trimble’s content platforms and the importance of Construction Analytics.

Stream
Parallel to the webinars, the MCE stream provided the latest news and facts about Trimble innovations and virtual trade fair activities.

ISH Digital 2021

MEPcontent joined the leading European digital fair: the ISH Digital Fair in Frankfurt. The ISH Digital 2021, the world's leading trade fair for water, heating and air conditioning, took place virtually for the first time this year from March 22nd to 26th. MEPcontent was there as part of Trimble MEP, with its interlocking solutions for construction planning, home and building technology digitally and offered a rich program to the over 5.000 fair visitors.

The trade fair program at the digital Trimble booth was extensive, informative and varied.
As part of product presentations, online lectures, webinars and training courses, visitors were able to comfortably, time and cost-saving, stress-free and Corona-safe on the office PC, home office laptop or mobile on the tablet about software innovations and the latest developments Notify Trimble.

Online format
The ISH 2021, which was completely relocated to the digital world due to the pandemic, was certainly not comparable with the face-to-face fairs of previous years and was a poor reflection of a "leading world trade fair". Both the virtual visitors and Trimble employees missed the personal contact, the informal conversations and the atmosphere. The online format was definitely a useful addition, also for future face-to-face fairs.

Educational webinars
The content-related and technical quality of the webinars and the abundance of practically applicable information conveyed were impressive. This means that the webinars are also suitable for training and introducing the new functions beyond the trade fair. To make this added value available to the entire Trimble community, the webinars were recorded and can be found at https://mep.trimble.com/de/resources/ish-digital-2021can also be streamed online after the trade fair. An attractive offer that you should take advantage of because of the high efficiency.

Constructible content
The fair was the perfect opportunity to explore new digital technologies that can support building product manufacturers in their BIM journey. During the webinar for building product manufacturers How to get started with constructible content our Customer Success Manager, Kim Smit, our Business Development Manager, Charles Lekx and our Content Operations Manager of Trimble nova, Waldemar Unruh, covered a number of interesting topics: the principle of Constructible Content, industry trends related to BIM standards and content, the latest developments of Trimble’s content platforms and the importance of Construction Analytics.

ATAG takes to the floor with new boiler range

ATAG has launched a new range of technologically advanced, high efficiency gas boilers, comprising the company’s first ever floor standing unit – the XL-f – as well as the wall-hung XL-w. Boasting the exceptional levels of quality and performance for which ATAG is renowned, the new boilers offer greater flexibility in terms of installation, as well as ease of maintenance.

The boilers are now available on MEPcontent.com for download as RFA, DWG and IFC format.

The new XL-f and XL-w ranges both offer outputs of 70 to 200kW from a single boiler and up to 1.6MW in cascade. All models benefit from an excellent footprint to power ratio for greater flexibility in terms of installation, which also enables them to be fitted in small spaces and plant rooms. There are six XL-f and six XL-w boilers to choose from, each available in one Single Heat Exchanger Compact (SEc) and one Single Heat Exchanger (SE) models, as well as two Double Heat Exchanger Compact (DEc) and two Double Heat Exchanger (DE) versions. These Double Heat Exchanger models have the added advantage of built-in backup, with each heat exchanger able to operate independently.

XL-f: ATAG’s first ever floor standing boiler
The star addition to ATAG’s boiler range is the XL-f. Not only is this the most compact floor standing unit available from the company (measuring just 1.8m high including the flow and return manifolds, as well as the horizontal flue), its low water content also makes it the lightest. All models can be installed in cascade in-line or back-to-back (via a dedicated wall hung rack), offering installers and specifiers great flexibility, alongside an impressive maximum output of 1.6MW. Furthermore, XL-f boilers have flow and return manifolds positioned at the top of each unit, plus all the pumps, valves and connections can be fully accessed from the front. For projects requiring multiple units, up to four boilers can be installed in-line, while three or four models can also be fitted back to back.

XL-w: A wall-mounted powerhouse
Not only can the XL-w achieve superb outputs up to 1.6MW, models also benefit from a low installation height of just 1.7m. Plus, when fitted in cascade, these boilers have the smallest, most compact footprint (in terms of width) in the industry. As with their floor standing counterparts, up to four of these units can be fitted in-line, while there is also the option to install three or four models back to back (i.e. six and eight boilers respectively).

Commenting on the new products, Paul Martin, national sales manager at ATAG Commercial, said: “We are delighted to add the XL-f and XL-w to our range of high efficiency boilers and they are a major step forward from our existing commercial range. What helps set them apart from other units on the market is the internal redundancy offered by the double engine models; by utilising dual heat exchangers that operate independently from one another, these models effectively work as an internal cascade. What’s more, should one heat exchanger require replacement or repair, the other is still fully operational, ensuring a system doesn’t completely lose heat during maintenance or servicing.”

About ATAG
ATAG Commercial, which is part of the Ariston Thermo Group, is a manufacturer of gas fired condensing boilers suitable for a range of domestic and commercial applications. The powerful XL Series sits alongside the QR Series range of high efficiency boilers, with the company’s products proving to be highly successful throughout the UK for many years, blending manufacturing expertise with unmatched reliability.
